TNY Live Chat

Here’s a link to the “Ask the Author” event I did for The New Yorker earlier this week: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/ask/2011/05/foreign-workers-iraq-afghanistan-sarah-stillman.html

It includes a shout-out to whistleblowers within the world of military contracting — brave men like former KBR labor foreman Mike Land, whom I write about in “The Invisible Army” — and also to some of the other journalists who’ve covered this issue at various points in the past eight years: T. Christian Miller, David Phinney, and Cam Simpson.  I should have mentioned Pratap Chatterjee, too, whose latest book on contracting, “Halliburton’s Army,” is worth a read, as well as Ms. Sparky, whose meticulous blog about wartime contracting has chronicled abuses against TCNs for years (she’s followed the issue ever since her time as a KBR journeyman electrician in Baghdad towards the start of the war).
